PEDEN+MUNK, Less is More

Less Is More is PEDEN+MUNK’s third cookbook with Molly Baz, after Cook This Book and More Is More. It is also the most personal of the three. Baz wrote it after losing her home and everything in it to the Los Angeles wildfires. The book grew out of the questions that came next: what a kitchen needs, what a working pantry looks like, and how you start cooking again from nothing.

The book is organized around the things that keep people from cooking: time, energy, ingredients, cleanup. The images answer them with food that looks generous, unfussy and easy to make on a weeknight. The result is a collaboration in which photography does more than document the recipes. It makes the case for them.
