Melanie Acevedo

Director, Photographer

Melanie Acevedo is a director and photographer celebrated for her ability to capture honest, emotionally rich moments with sophistication and warmth. Whether she’s behind the camera on a commercial set or documenting an intimate portrait, her work radiates a deep joy in real life—elevated, yet unfiltered.

With a background in both lifestyle and portraiture, Melanie brings a unique visual signature to every project: vibrant, natural, and filled with human connection. Her images strike a balance between style and spontaneity—rooted in trust, collaboration, and a keen eye for the unscripted. She has directed and photographed campaigns for leading clients including Virgin Voyages, Delta, Dove, Samsung, Target, Electrolux, Cottonelle, KitchenAid, Kohl’s, Formica, Hush Puppies, and Jonathan Adler.

Melanie’s passion for documenting real people and real spaces also extends to her longform work. She traveled the globe from China to Tangier to create The Authentics, a bestselling book published by Random House/Clarkson Potter that explores the lives of creative pioneers across art, design, and fashion. She also co-authored Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design with DwellStudio founder Christiane Lemieux, a celebration of expressive, lived-in homes.

Her personal work is just as intentional. What began as a one-year weekly portrait project of her children evolved into Another 52 Weeks—an ongoing visual diary that captures the beauty of the everyday with rare honesty and heart. This long-form commitment to storytelling continues to inform Melanie’s commercial work, where she is known not only for her creative vision, but for her ability to foster trust on set and bring out the best in collaborators and subjects alike.
