Richard Phibbs brings an artist’s eye to every photograph he takes—across advertising, editorial, fine art, and film. His imagery blends visual sophistication with emotional depth, capturing subjects with striking intimacy and nuance.
Phibbs’s work has appeared in major publications worldwide, including Harper’s Bazaar (UK, Japan, Spain, Saudi Arabia), Vogue (China and Greece), Vanity Fair, and GQ Russia. He has directed and photographed campaigns for iconic brands such as Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Thom Browne, Banana Republic, Nike, Wolford, Tommy Hilfiger, Tumi, and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
His fine art photography is held in private collections around the world, including those of Bill Clinton, Ralph Lauren, Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Eisner, and Anderson Cooper. Whether capturing Meryl Streep or Rafael Nadal, Beyoncé or Grace Jones, Phibbs brings a quiet power and sensitivity to his portraits, revealing something essential about his subjects.
An experienced director, Phibbs applies his refined visual sensibility to motion with the same precision he brings to stills. His directing work spans fashion and lifestyle campaigns, with a focus on evocative storytelling and elegant cinematic style.
He is also a committed animal rights advocate, having photographed hundreds of shelter animals to support rescue and adoption efforts around the world. His ongoing collaborations with global organizations continue to channel the power of portraiture toward meaningful change.
Originally from Canada, Phibbs studied at the University of Toronto and Parsons School of Design in New York. He continues to work globally, maintaining studios in both Barcelona and New York City.
