Ciril Jazbec, Ciril Jazbec Selected as a Finalist for Wellcome Photography Prize

Congratulations to director and photographer Ciril Jazbec on being selected as a finalist for the Wellcome Trust Photography Prize for his series ‘Dream to Cure Water.’

The Wellcome Photo Prize recognizes impactful, visual storytelling that explores the intersections of health, humanity, and science.

Peru is home to the majority of the world’s tropical glaciers, but 40 per cent of their surface area has disappeared since the 1970s due to climate change. This series explores the health impacts of melting glaciers in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, where this is threatening water supplies and contaminating rivers with the heavy metals that accumulate over centuries within glaciers.

The exhibition is now open at the The Francis Crick Institute in London through October 18, 2025. Admission is free.
