Julie Russell

Julie Russell is a west coast based prop stylist & art director. She holds a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studio Arts from the University of Washington, with focus in ceramics and printmaking.

Following formal schooling, she ventured into the world of food and further cemented her love of all things vegetable and mineral. She developed her on-set skills working for advertising clients such as Apple, AT&T, Caraway Home, SONOS, and Warby Parker; and has cultivated a wealth of personal imagery through food, drink, and flowers. Julie’s background in art and food inform her aesthetic – which highlights modern simplicity with a few pops of color and spirit.

Sustainability and environmental awareness play a crucial role in her work practices. All props are recycled or reused throughout photoshoots to keep waste as minimal as possible. Food props are real and to be consumed, with an emphasis on less is more. Interiors are designed to utilize form & function, giving priority to vintage and modular pieces that can stand the test of time.
