Finn’s ongoing series for Meadow Arts documents the artists involved in their upcoming exhibition, opening May 2026.
Maya Rose Edwards is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in rural communities — working with farmers, stonemasons, hedgelayers, and sailors to re-centre overlooked landscapes as forms of sculptural protest. Trefor Prothero is a champion hedge layer from the Welsh Borders.
Maya wanted to exhibit a laid hedge as an artwork for an upcoming exhibition with Meadow Arts, whose next show explores borders and boundaries. So they came to Trefor to learn. Over three days an unlikely friendship formed, and by the end Trefor was looking at his hedge as a work of art, and Maya at her artwork as a hedge.
The laid hedge will be exhibited as part of Meadow Arts’ Borders and Boundaries exhibition, opening May 2026.
This is an evolving body of work, with Finn continuing to photograph participating artists over the coming months in the lead-up to the opening.
