Director and Photographer Ken Kochey traveled to Bali to capture the inspiring work of Aniek Putu Ayu Puspawardani, a leader at Kelecung Eco Village and partner of Women’s Earth Alliance. Through his lens, Ken documented Aniek’s dedication to sustainable living and community empowerment, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Bali’s natural beauty. Ken’s images and video captured the essence of Aniek’s leadership and the village’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, which are central to WEA’s Rising Tides, Rising Women campaign.
“In the midst of unbridled tourism and development in Bali, shines a woman who sees beyond the greed enveloping Bali and understands the value of preservation of the lands and culture that is the magic of her island homeland. Spending the day photographing Aniek Puspawardani in her village amongst her friends and family was an absolute honor for me and a day that refreshed my hope for the future. With a fire that burns behind those shiny eyes and bright smile is a heroic woman, doing great things, saving one tree and one song at a time.” — Ken Kochey
