Melanie Acevedo

Photographer

Melanie Acevedo is a lifestyle and portrait photographer whose images are stylish, yet accessible and always distinctly happy. “In artful pursuits (or in art), it is a rare thing to be able to achieve a sense of both sophistication and fun,” notes Dara Caponigro, creative director at F. Schumacher & Co. “Melanie Acevedo’s photography does just that. She imbues her photographs with joie de vivre but also achieves a depth that makes them captivating.”

Melanie has shot campaigns for clients including Virgin Voyages, Delta, Dove, Samsung, Target, Electrolux, Cottonelle, KitchenAid, Kohl’s, Formica, Hush Puppies, and Jonathan Adler. For over a year Melanie traveled the globe from China to Tangier to photograph her book for Random House/Clarkson Potter called The Authentics. The book is deep dive into the lives of creative trailblazers in art, design, and fashion, which became a #1 best seller in the design world. And she collaborated with DwellStudio founder Christiane Lemieux on the book Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design.

“Yes, her work is beautiful, and yes, she brings great ideas and enthusiasm to your concept, but one thing you may not realize is that when you book Melanie, you will have a fabulous partner in achieving the best shoot possible,” notes Karen Meenaghan, Art Buyer. “She manages her crew and her set with leadership and humor and helps you navigate your client through the best options for your execution. And she does all of it with intelligence, fabulous taste, and much laughter. A total pleasure.”

Melanie lives in the beach town of Sea Cliff, New York, with her family: husband Richard, daughter Violet, son Rockwell, their dogs, Squirrel and Strawberry and cats, Mrs Biggelsworth and Mouse. In 2010 she embarked on a personal project to photograph her children every week for a year. Though the year has long since passed, the project, “Another 52 Weeks,” is still going strong. “Since memories fade, my images will be a part of their memories—my gift to them,” she says.
