Paul Costello is a nationally recognized photographer (and larger-than-life personality) known for his lifestyle, travel, interiors and portrait multi-platform work. Throughout his career, Paul’s photos have frequented the pages of Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Elle Décor & People Magazine and been seen among the ad campaigns of Marriott, Corcoran, Allswell, Draper James, Kate Spade, Target & PPG.
Paul’s career in the photo world began like that of many artistically driven people: he moved to New York City. After graduating with a degree in photography from NYU, he went on to work at the Vanity Fair art department and, later, to assist photographers like Ellen von Unwerth, Richard Burbridge and Annie Leibowitz. His first solo gig was shooting a Phish concert for Rolling Stone.
Paul has since photographed several more artists & celebrities and cultivated a career spanning many genres, however, since his archetypal move to New York City, his life has become anything but the usual. In 2010, he abruptly kissed the Big Apple goodbye and opted for what he describes as a “gentle chaos” in the Garden District of New Orleans. With his equally creative wife and designer, Sara, and their three children, the family transformed an abandoned 150+ year-old house into a modern, bustling home. They have subsequently finished a second restorative renovation, an old church that they converted into a photo studio with guest accommodations.
While he’s now rooted in the heart of the South, Paul is based wherever the work takes him. Follow him on Instagram at @pthepaul to see where he’ll be next. Trust us.
