To mark an important shift in Annie Frost Nicholson’s practise Tara took these portraits of her in her home. Tara and Annie met in 2015 when she was working under the name of The Fandangoe Kid. It’s been incredible to see her artistic evolution over these last few years and a beautiful move to see her now using her own name and taking on her beloved mother Harriet’s surname as a tribute to her. Here Annie explains it in her own words: “Letting go of The Fandangoe Kid Studio as a working name and embracing my real name, Annie Frost Nicholson, with the addition of my mother’s name, has marked a huge shift in both my work and my personal life. I speak to both of my mum’s sisters about the addition to my name and got their blessing, where I couldn’t speak to my mum directly. I do know in my heart that she would love it and I feel like I’m honouring her and keeping her with me as I move through life, having lost her far too soon. There is no one who made more of an impact on my life that Harriet Frost, she taught me how to be in the world and how to love and I’ll celebrate her every day in whatever way I can.”
