Mei Tao

Chinese-Born and Brooklyn-raised, photographer and director Mei Tao has the soul of a true New Yorker, personified by a bold style, whimsical humor and creative candor.

Inspired by a love of Fashion and gifted with a keen understanding of branding, Mei has created success working with clients that include Apple, J.Crew, Mango, Ann Taylor x BCRF “Sisterhood of Strength,” Laura Mercier, Maison Simons, GQ, People, Town and Country and Warby Parker and photographing the likes of Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, America Ferrera, Yara Shahidi, Jane Goodall, Ilana Glazer, Tamron Hall, Drew Barrymore and Awkwafina.

Mei truly thrives on set, head over heels for the experience in its entirety: meeting fresh faces, traveling the world working as one part of the larger effort required to bring a project to life.

This experience is at the heart of her personal projects, created over decades of documenting her daughter, her family, and the children and families of close friends, returning over time to tell the stories about girlhood, home, how we become, and how we remember.
